How a watch works
Scan your receipts
Each receipt adds what you bought and what you paid to Prices. That’s where you watch from.
Watch an item
On Prices, choose Watch. Pick on special at any price, or under a price you choose per kg, litre, 100g or item.
See what’s on special
New Coles, Woolworths and Aldi catalogues start each Wednesday. Your watches are matched against the ones on in your state, in For you on Specials, and in the Wednesday email if you ask for it on that watch.
What a watch tells you
Each week, every watch is in one of three places.
On special, at or under your price
The store, the special price, and what you save on what you last paid when it’s the same product.
On special, over your price
It’s on special somewhere, but not as cheap as you want. You decide if it’s close enough.
Not on special this week
Nothing to do. It’s checked again when next week’s catalogues are in.
More from the catalogues
Specials on your list
The line under your list’s name says how many items are on special this week. Each one carries a tag with the store and the special price, and, when Alydo knows it, what you’d save on what you last paid.
The Wednesday email
One email a week, on Wednesday, with the watches that are on special under your price and the list items on special. Each special is sent once per watch, even when next week’s catalogue prints it again. Turn it off any time.
Compared like for like
Your price and the special are compared on the same basis, per kg, litre, 100g or item. When they can’t be compared, it says so.
Your own prices
What you last paid comes from your household’s receipts, so it’s your number at your store, not an advertised one.
What it doesn’t do
So you know what to expect. Specials this week shows the current catalogues.
No push alerts
Watches show in the app and in the Wednesday email. Your phone doesn’t buzz when something goes on special.
Printed catalogue specials
It reads the printed catalogue, not every shelf price, so a price cut that isn’t in the catalogue won’t show.
Three supermarkets
Coles, Woolworths and Aldi. Catalogues are printed per state, and your watches are checked once your state’s are in. Specials this week shows which states’ are in.
Questions about price alerts
How do price alerts work in Alydo?
You watch an item you have bought, from Prices. New Coles, Woolworths and Aldi catalogues start each Wednesday, and Alydo matches your watches against the ones on in your state. If the item is on special, at or under your price if you set one, it shows in For you on Specials, and in your Wednesday email if you ask for it on that watch.
Which supermarkets and states does it cover?
Coles, Woolworths and Aldi. Their catalogues are printed per state, and your watches are checked against your state’s once they are in. Specials this week shows which states’ catalogues are in this week.
Will I get lots of emails?
No. The Wednesday specials email comes once a week, only if you turn it on, and each special is sent once per watch. You can turn it off any time.
Does it track every price at the supermarket?
No. It checks the printed catalogue specials, so a shelf price that changes outside the catalogue won’t show. What you last paid comes from your household’s receipts.
Will my phone alert me when something is on special?
No push alerts for watches. They show in For you on Specials and in the Wednesday email.
How much can I save?
It depends on what you buy and how often it’s on special. We have not measured savings across Alydo users, so we do not quote a figure. When a special is for the same product you bought, the watch shows what you would save on what you last paid.
I set up price alerts before. What happened to them?
They are now watches, matched against each week’s catalogues. An alert set to a percentage became a watch at any price. On the web, you’ll find them in Settings under Watches.
